Reading note
The Furnace
by Thomas Bernhard — read in September 2025
It gave me the sense of urgency to do things. Writing down my ideas is also a way to stop thinking about them, to move on. The incessant prose, without paragraphs, without chapters, without breaks between one concept and the next, resembles life. A senseless journey that leads to where you wanted to go. The error is only discovered retrospectively. Perhaps the book that started this habit of keeping track of the books I read, of the notes I take while reading them, of the spatial and temporal connections that make me move from one book to another.
